Today's color scheme: Old Olive, Taken with Teal (a last chance color!), So Saffron, and Sweet Pea DSP Stack
The completed card's dimensions are 5 1/4 x 5 1/2. Almost a square card! It's a gate-fold card made using 5 1/4 x 11" card stock scored at 3 1/2" and at 9". Spellbinder dies were used to create a suitable center piece to hold the card front closed. A 1" strip of Sweet Pea DSP runs the width of the card, including paper piercing, to help emphasize the "Happy Birthday" sentiment stamped in Taken with Teal ink (soon to be bye-bye!) on So Saffron paper. The Modern Label punch was used to punch out the stamped sentiment.
Here's the inside of the card. I continued with the theme of running a 1" strip of Sweet Pea DSP along the width of the card. A birthday sentiment (from retired SU! stamp set Friend to Friend) was stamped with black ink on more Sweet Pea DSP. The birthday cake image (SU!'s retired Along the Same Lines) was stamped with black ink and the candle flames were accented with gold rhinestones.
The birthday card is for Mom who will be celebrating her 86th birthday on July 4th. She recently had some new trees planted in the yard and that motivated me to use a HB-tree theme card. It's funny how the entire nation likes to whoop it up on Mom's birthday!

Yesterday morning started early with a phone call about Hawaii would be hit with a tsunami generated by Chile's 8.8 earthquake. First, an 8.8 earthquake?! Next thought was get busy in completing the precautionary steps to be prepared for whatever problems the tsunami could create such as no electricity or water for multiple days. We are fortunate that we do not live in an evacuation zone so that was one less worry to address.
Today's color scheme: Sweet Pea DSP colors! Old Olive (card base), Chocolate Chip (corduroy button), So Saffron, Taken with Teal, and Rose Red.
You will notice there is minimal stamping here—just the sentiment stamped with Taken with Teal ink and punched out with the Modern Label punch. The punch out was layered on to a slightly larger punch out (Taken with Teal Paper) created with my Magnetic Movers and Shapers die.

The flowers were made by running SU!'s Original die, Blossom Party (115971), through my Big Shot with three different paper colors: Taken with Teal, Rose Red, So Saffron.
One sheet side from the Sweet Pea DSP was used to accent the card's front including using SU!'s Scallop Trim Border punch.
Here's a cute picture of my assistant (Alice the cat) taking a much need snooze…

Happy Friday! What inspired today's card is a leftover piece of Sweet Pea DSP. The card is simple and a good one to remember if you want to make a card and mail it ASAP (as soon as possible).
Color Scheme: Taken with Teal (card base) and Pumpkin Pie with Sweet Pea DSP.
The Sweet Pea DSP is matted on Pumpkin Pie card stock. I used a sentiment from Whimsical Words (Sale-A-Bration – pg.8) and stamped it with Taken with Teal ink on a scrap piece of Whisper White. It was punched out using the Scallop Oval punch and matted to a Taken with Teal Scallop oval die cut. The scallop oval die cut was created using my Big Shot and Movers & Shapers Big Z die and the scallop oval magnetic die. Let me just say I have easily got my money's worth from the Movers & Shapers Big Z die! The magnetic dies coordinate with SU! punches (IB&C – pg. 186-7) and I do love to mat!
SU!'s Beautiful Wings embosslits die was used to make little butterflies which I attached to the card's front. OK—I also got carried away and attached them all over to the card's insides.
