Stuff

Have you seen the SCS tutorial for the drawer box??  If not, CLICK HERE.  It's a fairly easy box to make and it is large enough to hold completed A2 cards and envelopes.  I also read a blog entry where someone is planning to make a 'stack' of these drawers.  That sounds like a great idea…hmmmm…maybe I will make a stack of drawers too!

You are looking at my first go at making a drawer box.  Oooops, I got a little messy with the liquid glue when attaching the letters for "STUFF".  The box is for my 'stuff' so I will have a continuous reminder about being neat-n-tidy when applying adhesive. :-)

When I try a 3-D project for the first time I use retired paper.  In this case, I used Really Rust paper (retired), Blue Bayou (retired), and coordinating DSP (retired).   I just do not feel as bad if (usually it is a when) I make a mistake and need to grab more paper.

The current SU! products used in making the drawing box are:  Crop-A-Dile (108362), Dotted Scallop Ribbon Border Punch (119275), 1/2" circle punch, and Timeless Type Junior Alphabet Medium Sizzlet Dies (115951).  I really like the Dotted Scallop Ribbon Border Punch!  Mental note:  Try more projects using this punch.

Carpe Diem

Carpe Diem—seize the day.  It is a beautiful day here on the Big Island of Hawaii and that's what made me think of a Latin phrase from a poem (i.e. seize the day).  Just a day you want to savor second by second.

Today's color scheme:  Tempting Turquoise, Old Olive, So Saffron, Chocolate Chip, Pumpkin Pie

A Hawaii-theme card seemed appropriate since the day is so perfect here.  Now onward with how this card was created!  Truth be told the first plan was to create a 'vertical' card.  I had a simple layout in mind and it soon came apparent horizontal was a better way to go.  So many options in making a card and so little time! LOL.

OK—about this card!  The "Aloha" Chocolate Chip colored letters were made by running SU!'s Timeless Type Junior Alphabet set (absolutely wonderful for cards or making scrapbook pages) through my Big Shot.  The letters were carefully glued on So Saffron paper texturized using SU!'s Perfect Details Texturz Plate.  I thought the textured look would compliment the Island Oasis DSP pattern.

To add to the 'Aloha' theme I stamped the small and large flowers stamps (Tropical Party stamp set) on Whisper White paper using Pumpkin Pie and Tempting Turquoise ink.  The flowers were cut out using SU!'s small scissors and adhered around the "Aloha" phrase.  I did use dimensionals on the lower left and middle flowers.

I hope your summer day is one to be seized and enjoyed too!

While I am Waiting

Today's color scheme:  Melon Mambo, Tempting Turquoise, Chocolate Chip, Barely Banana (Card base – Retired SU! color)

While I am waiting for my SU! order to ship (with lots of new goodies!!)  I will play around with what is on hand.  What I found on hand was an old SU! chipboard flower, Welcome to the Neighborhood DSP stack (R), and Sweet Pea DSP (R).  The perfect combination to take on Curtain Call Act 37 color challenge.

The chipboard flower was covered using T. Turquoise DSP (Sweet Pea).  The flower's center is Melon Mambo and Barely Banana paper that was textured using SU!'s Squared Lattice embossing folder.  Can you tell yet that I really like this embossing folder?!  The circles were created using SU!'s Sizzix Circles #2 die and SU!'s 1 3/8" circle punch.  The Chocolate Chip flower was created using SU!'s Bojo Blossoms punch and the Melon Mambo heart (textured!) was created using SU!'s small heart punch.

The sentiment (With all My Heart stamp set) was stamped with Chocolate Chip ink on Barely Banana paper (retired).  An addition of 1/4" Chocolate Chip ribbon is the final touch to today's card.

I have some volunteer work this week which may delay posting a card for a day or two.  We'll just have to see how things turn out!
