Oh no! I am going to be missing in action again. We are headed for the Mainland (Carlsbad, California) in a few hours to visit with my husband’s side of the family. We’ll be gone for 10 days and that means no crafting for me until the week of Thanksgiving.
Now, on the bright side I may be able to sneak out for a stealth visit to a craft store…
Today’s card I made several weeks ago—hopefully I have not posted it before. It was made using a Cuttlebug embossing folder and die that came as a packaged deal. The package contained other sentiment dies too. Just choose the sentiment you want and a great card can be made in minutes.
Just a word to my Hawaii buds "Waimea" Nancy and Petra—behave yourselves on eBay! Hmmmmmmmmm—that is sound advice for me too!
OK—I need to get my ample butt in gear and make sure everything is packed and ready to go for the trip. Yes, my faithful assistant (Alice the cat) is not happy about her servants taking off for over a week.

Last night I was stamping away when the electricity went out. RUH-ROH. There I sat in total blackness. I gingerly got up and looked out the window to verify everyone else was in the dark too. Yep—the whole neighborhood was in this together. Why does one feel better knowing were all in the same mess? The good news is my husband, flashlight in hand, led me back to our family room. I was going to light some candles and could not find a match. What’s the good of having candles if you don’t have a match?! Aaargh. The power came back on after about 15 minutes and life went back to normal. Yes, I’m buying matches the next time I’m in town!
Here’s the card I made where I tried to follow Verve Stamp’s August 2009 Anni-VERVE-sary AVS203 sketch challenge. Over the next few days you’ll see some other Verve sketch challenge cards. There’s one card that I may not post. Why? One of the card layers is a little bit…well…not straight. It’s bugging the heck out of me each time I look at the card. It’s like a painting hanging askew on the wall. Annoying! Maybe I will post the card so y’all can have a good example of what annoying looks like.
This card does meet the criteria for the Diva Coffee Break Design color challenge #140. I used SU! colors of Garden Green (card base), Regal Rose, Orchid Opulence, and So Saffron per the color challenge criteria. The butterfly is a Spellbinder Die and the lace border was created by using a Martha Stewart punch. I used Verve stamp sets (flower, sentiment), white dew drops for accents, a 3/4" circle punch (flower’s regal rose center) and Cuttlebug’s swiss dot embossing folder on this card. Oh, and I did some paper piercing on the white card layer. Ta Da—I had a completed card!
Stamp on and with Aloha!

Felecia, the tropical storm, only created a good sprinkling of rain in the area we live on the Big Island. What a disappointment! We really need the moisture and were really looking forward to whatever rain we could get. I haven’t heard how the other islands were impacted by Felecia.
Today I finally got some uninterrupted time to stamp. Whoa, I am so rusty and felt so inept at creating a card after being away for two weeks.
I chose to do a simple card using a Cuttlebug embossing folder and a companion die. Out came my Big Shot and a with two passes I had a card cover using SU!’s Melon Mambo and Crushed Curry (sentiment and card layer). The card’s base is Rich Razzleberry. I thought the flowers would look a little more fun with some dew drops. On another day I’d like to try bleaching the embossed flowers and then coloring the bleached out area. My mind was already taxed so I’ll leave that experiment for another day.
It feels so good to be back and stamping again!
