Wow, I feel like a little kid who wants to get home quick to show Mom what I made in school. Since those days are long, long past—I’ll rush to my blog instead to share with y’all my first cards created (oh so easily!) using SU!’s My Digital Studio (MDS) software program. What a giggle! I was having so much fun with MDS that I stayed up a little later than was good for me. OK, back to my MDS cards!
I could have built my own card layer by layer however, instead I selected a professional designer card. Since I need Christmas cards for mailing I selected a Christmas Jingle Simply Scrappin’ (see SU!’s IB&C pg 165) theme designer card. A designer card is ‘good to go’ except I just felt compelled to tweak mine a bit. My customizations included: adding a Real Red scallop punch (behind the sentiment circle) including a Chocolate Chip paper mat, three Real Red brads; and selecting Chocolate Chip Grosgrain ribbon.
Here’s the same card again except it has a different DSP design and uses Real Red grosgrain ribbon instead of Chocolate Chip. Oh yes! Can you find the brads I added to the DSP snow bursts?? MDS is very very conducive to playing around with adding and removing embellishments, punches, stamps, and DSP. Now you have a better idea as to why I was up late—I was busy playing!
Want to see what the inside of the card looks like? Here it is!! I liked the fact I could do a ‘mirror image’ of the holly berries.
Christmas Cards for our Troops Overseas
I have completed 11 Christmas cards and have 89 to go to reach my goal of 100 Christmas cards. This weekend is a little busy so that’s going to slow down my card making pace a bit. I will admit to struggling a little bit with keeping the cards clean and simple. There’s this little voice in my head that keeps crying out for more layers and more embellishments.
Stamp on and with Aloha! Aloha Jan
